As of May 2004, the following changes have occured in the Maine Coon color classes.
- "Patched" is removed from the brown tabby color class description, and a new color class is being added for "Brown Patched Tabby".
- "Patched" is removed from the brown tabby & white color class description, and a new color class is being added for "Brown Patched Tabby & White".
- "Tortoiseshell", "Tortoiseshell & White", and "Black & White" are being removed from the parti-color class description, and new color classes are being added for those 3 colors.
