Shorthair American Curl Breed Winner in 3 show seasons, GC, BW, RW DBCats Little Rock

In the 2001-2002 show season, CFA began awarding a new title – Breed Winner, which is abbreviated as BW. This title is quite exclusive, being given to ONLY ONE cat in each breed or division in a given year – the highest scoring cat for that breed or division in the Championship class.

Although the award began in that season, CFA is retroactively adding the title to Breed Winners of previous years. In this article, Best of Breed was researched back to the 1966-67 show season where the best of breed cats were first listed in the CFA yearbooks.

The Shorthair American Curl was first accepted for competition with CFA in 1993, and the breed winners from that point forward are listed below. Although CFA may not have yet updated their records to add the BW title to the cats listed below, the cats have earned the right to use the BW title.

The first Breed Winner for the Shorthair American Curl was CH, BW Sandybears Revolver of Greatfield, a Red McTabby and White male, who earned the award in 1993-94. The first female Breed Winner didn't occur until 10 years later, in 2002-03, when GC, BW DBCats Lady Madona, a Tortie & White, was best of breed.
