Abyssinian National Winners

The highest achievement in the show ring is accomplished when a cat successfully earns the title of National Winner (NW). CFA established the title of Grand Champion in 1930 and the title of National Winner first appeared in 1971. In CFA, each year the top 25 cats in Championship, 20 Kittens and 20 cats in Premiership are awarded the NW title.

In 1971-72, the first National Winning Abyssinian was a Ruddy male named GC, NW Mirkwood Gaston of Abyiat.

The very next year, GC, NW Pharoh Citation of Swingate was the first - and so far only - Abyssinian to become Best Cat in Championship in CFA.

Three Abys have been Best Cat in Premiership, beginning in 1980, with CH, GP, NW Helium's Spitfire, followed by CH, GP, NW Nepenthes Timur in 1981 and by GP, NW Abyko Boomer in 1986.

No Abyssinian kitten has ever been named Best Kitten to date.
