The Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) has been dominated by the Persian breed for decades, both in the number of kittens registered each year and the top winners in the show ring.

Now, for the first time in the history of CFA, the Exotic Shorthair has overtaken the Persian as the most popular breed in CFA.

In 2014, the number of Persians registered fell slightly while Exotic Shorthair registrations rose by a whopping 21%.
