Breed Winner in 1972-73, GC, BW, NW Pharoh Citation of Swingate

In the 2001-2002 show season, CFA began awarding a new title – Breed Winner, which is abbreviated as BW. This title is quite exclusive, being given to ONLY ONE cat in each breed or division in a given year – the highest scoring cat for that breed or division in the Championship class.

Although the award began in that season, CFA is retroactively adding the title to Breed Winners of previous years. In this article, Best of Breed was researched back to the 1966-67 show season where the best of breed cats were first listed in the CFA yearbooks.

Although CFA may not have yet updated their records to add the BW title to the cats listed below, the cats have earned the right to use the BW title.

The first Abyssinian Breed Winner was a Ruddy Male named GC, BW Pharoh Rameses II . The first female Breed Winner came the following year, when a Ruddy named GC, BW Chota-Li Russet was best of breed.
