Although the award began in that season, CFA is retroactively adding the title to Breed Winners of previous years. In this article, Best of Breed was researched back to the 1966-67 show season where the best of breed cats were first listed in the CFA yearbooks.
Although CFA may not have yet updated their records to add the BW title to the cats listed below, the cats have earned the right to use the BW title.
Dilute Burmese were originally accepted by CFA in 1979, under the separate breed name of "Malayan". In 1984, the Malayans were incorporated into the Burmese breed as a separate division called "Dilute".
The first Dilute Burmese Breed Winner didn't occur until 2 years after being accepted, in 1981-82, and was a Champagne Female named GC, BW Sixes Gentlemen-Prefer-Blondes. The first male Breed Winner came the following year, in 1982-83, when a Champagne named GC, BW Anoka's Rocket Man was best of breed.
