Longhair Selkirk Rex Breed Winners in CFA

 

Breed Winner for 2002, GC, BW LaPurr'Fect Bluebell

In the 2001-2002 show season, CFA began awarding a new title – Breed Winner, which is abbreviated as BW. This title is quite exclusive, being given to ONLY ONE cat in each breed or division in a given year – the highest scoring cat for that breed or division in the Championship class.

Although the award began in that season, CFA is retroactively adding the title to Breed Winners of previous years. In this article, Best of Breed was researched back to the 1966-67 show season where the best of breed cats were first listed in the CFA yearbooks.

The Longhair Selkirk Rex was first accepted for competition with CFA in 2000, and the breed winners from that point forward are listed below. Although CFA may not have yet updated their records to add the BW title to the cats listed below, the cats have earned the right to use the BW title.

The first Breed Winner for the Longhair Selkirk Rex was CH, BW LaPurr'Fect Rappunzl of Deenewkurl , a calico female, who earned the award in 2000-01. The first male Breed Winner occured 2 years later, in 2002-03, earned by a blue named GC, BW Reigningcats Jamaican Sunset .
