The highest achievement in the CFA show ring is accomplished when a cat successfully earns the title of National Winner (NW). CFA established the title of Grand Champion in 1930 and the title of National Winner first appeared in 1971. In CFA, each year the top 25 cats in Championship, 25 Kittens and 25 cats in Premiership are awarded the NW title.
The Korat is a very ancient breed, and was discovered in the Korat province in Thailand. The earliest known record of the Korat appears in The Cat-Book of Poems, first produced in 1350! This book presents the seventeen "good luck" cats of Thailand, including the Korat The first Korats were not imported into the US until 1959, and they were then accepted by CFA for championship status in 1967.
It wasn't until the 1980-81 show season that the Korats had their first National Winner - a female named GC, NW Passport's Munn Kette - who was 7th Best Cat.
To date, no Korat has earned a "Best" in any of the categories - the breed's most successful season to date was the 2001-02 show season, where Korats earned 2 National placements.
Below is a table with the national winning Korats including their name, color, sex, year of their win, and the award they earned.
