The highest achievement in the CFA show ring is accomplished when a cat successfully earns the title of National Winner (NW). CFA established the title of Grand Champion in 1930 and the title of National Winner first appeared in 1971. In CFA, each year the top 25 cats in Championship, 25 Kittens and 25 cats in Premiership are awarded the NW title.
The Manx is one of America's early breeds, and CFA has recognized the Manx for many years. The oldest stud books list Manx as one of the breeds that CFA recognized as far back as the 1920s, although at that time, only the SH version was recognized. It wasn't until 1989 that the LH Manx was recognized by CFA.
In the very first year that the National Awatds were started, a female Manx named GC, NW Glendower's Adrienne was Best Kitten.
The same year, another female Manx, GP, NW Kittrik's Bon-Angel of Wila-Blite, was Best cat in Premiership - a feat she repeated the following year.Three more Manx would earn the title of Best in Premiership, although there have been no other Best Kitten winners, and no Manx has ever been Best cat in Championship.
