Many animal shelters, humane societies and rescue organizations across the US and Canada celebrate June as Adopt-A-Cat Month.

Every spring and summer, animal shelters and private rescue groups are inundated with litters of kittens, some with mothers and many orphaned. These kittens are in addition to the adult cats that also find themselves without a home to call their own.

More than 4 million cats end up in shelters or rescue every year, including thousands born every spring during the traditional “kitten season.”

Your local shelter is brimming with cats of every breed, age and personality just waiting for a loving home. Whether you prefer young and frisky or mature and mellow, you're sure to find the perfect cat companion during Adopt-A-Cat Month!
